20 Player field quickly became 8 semi-finalists + 2 spots for Lottery and Auction. The 8 semi-finals included Sonny Cho, Luis Aveiga, Hugo Patino, Jae Hyung Cho, Pedro Piedrabuena, Miguel Torres and Carlos Hallon. The 2 Bonus spots went to Jim Shovak (Auction) and Sang Jin Lee (Lotto). The final round ended up with only 4 players in a single elimination format. Round 1: Hugo Patino defeats Pedro Piedrabuena and Luis Aveiga defeats Miguel Torres Final: Luis Aveiga defeats Hugo Patino for 1st and 2nd Miguel Torres defeats Pedro Piedrabuena for 3rd and 4th 5th/6th: Jae Hyung Cho (5th) defeated Carlos Hallon (6th) 7th/8th: Sonny Cho (7th) defeated Jamil Isreal (8th). 9th/10th: Jim Shovak (9th) defeated Sang Jin Lee (10th). 12 Players came to Carom Cafe to participate in the regional qualifier to earn their way into a spot at the National Championship. The prelims were 2 groups of 6-Person Round Robins. The top 3 from each group had to play each other in the finals. The bottom 3 from each group only played a play off to find the last 6 places. Only the top two finishers qualified for the National Championships. Congratulations to: Hugo Patino, avg 1.379, went undefeated and placed 1st in the tournament. Minjae Pak, avg 0.892, out scores Michael Kang by just 11 total points and placed 2nd. |
